William T. Cahill Invested into the Order of St. John
Cox & Palmer is proud to announce that William T. Cahill, a partner in our St. John’s office, has been invested as a serving member of the Most Venerable Order of the Hospital of St. John of Jerusalem by the Honourable Frank F. Fagan, CM, ONL, MBA, the Lieutenant Governor of Newfoundland and Labrador, in a ceremony on June 11th, 2015.
William has been recognized for his remarkable service as a dedicated volunteer with St. John Ambulance, serving as honourary legal counsel and a member of the board of directors for the Newfoundland and Labrador Provincial Council since 2010.
Established in 1888 by Queen Victoria, the Most Venerable Order of the Hospital of St. John of Jerusalem is a working order of charitably minded men and women whose philanthropy is expressed through its two foundations, the St. John Eye Hospital in Jerusalem and St. John Ambulance. The Order traces its origins to the Knights Hospitaller, of the Crusades, who served the Abbey of St. Mary’s small hospital for sick pilgrims in Jerusalem in the 12th century. The Order was brought into the Canadian Honours System in 1990. Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II is the Order’s Sovereign and the governor general is its Prior in Canada.
The Governor General of Canada presents honours and awards to recognize those people who have demonstrated excellence, courage or exceptional dedication to service in ways that bring special credit to this country.
Congratulations, William.
