Celebrating Queen’s Counsel Designations in the Halifax Office

Suzanne Rix and Michelle Kelly, Partners in the Halifax office,  have received their Queen’s Counsel designations.

Awarded each year to a select group of lawyers for their outstanding service, dedication and commitment to the legal profession, this designation recognizes our colleagues’ professional integrity, hard work and the high regard in which they are held by the profession.

Suzanne has built a successful practice helping immigrants and businesses navigate the complexities of citizenship and immigration law and is recognized as a leading practitioner in her field.  She is an executive member of the Canadian Bar Association National Immigration Law Section and Past Chair of the Citizenship and Immigration Law Section of the Canadian Bar Association (Nova Scotia).  She also sits on the Accessing a Skilled Workforce Task Force of the Halifax Chamber of Commerce.  In addition to her immigration practice, Suzanne is the Honorary Consul for the Federal Republic of Germany for the Maritime Provinces.

Michelle Kelly has been recognized for her work in the areas of complex commercial litigation and insurance defence.  She has appeared at all levels of court in Nova Scotia and has been involved in many successful mediations and commercial arbitrations.  Michelle is currently chair of the Gender Equity Committee for the Nova Scotia Barristers Society.  She also holds the portfolio of Diversity & Inclusion on the Halifax Executive Committee for Cox & Palmer.  She is the recent past-chair of The Coalition of Provincial and Territorial Advisory Councils on the Status of Women consisting of advisory bodies from across the country working together to advance women’s issues on a national level.
