Prominent New Brunswick Lawyer Appointed Board Chair

February 18, 2010, Saint John, NB – Cox & Palmer is pleased to announce the appointment of one of its pre-eminent lawyers to a key leadership role within the firm. Peter R. Forestell, QC, the firm’s New Brunswick Managing Partner, has been named chair of the firm’s board of directors.
Peter’s appointment reflects the esteem in which he is held within the firm and is an endorsement of his leadership skills and business acumen.

Mr. Forestell’s career in corporate and commercial law in New Brunswick spans more than 30 years. He represents the interests of major Canadian and international corporations in New Brunswick, as well as domestic private and public companies, utilities, financial institutions and individuals. Mr. Forestell is recognized as a leading practitioner by the publication, The Best Lawyers in Canada.

Mr. Forestell’s leadership is evident in his commitment to the legal profession in New Brunswick. He taught Bar Admission Courses for more than 15 years, chaired numerous Continuing Legal Education Programs for the Canadian Bar Association (CBA), chaired the New Brunswick business law subsection of the CBA and acted as the corporate affairs liaison for the New Brunswick Law Society. Mr. Forestell continues to be an active member of the CBA, the New Brunswick Law Society and the Saint John Law Society.

Mr. Forestell’s lifelong commitment to his community has included leadership roles with organizations such as the St. Joseph’s Hospital Foundation, the Rothesay-Kings Rotary Club, the Rocmaura Foundation, MindCare New Brunswick and the Canadian Red Cross. Mr. Forestell also served on the board of governors for St. Thomas University, Fredericton.

Mr. Forestell assumes the position of board chair from Thomas O’Reilly, QC, a partner in the firm’s St. John’s office.
