Gerald W. O’Brien, KC Receives UNB Alumni Award of Distinction

Gerald W. O’Brien, QC, Partner in Cox & Palmer’s Saint John office, has received the UNB Alumni Award of Distinction. The University of New Brunswick recognizes alumni for truly outstanding achievements that have earned them recognition and prominence through service to humanity, their professions or volunteer organizations, community service, advancement of knowledge or through service to the University of New Brunswick or the Associated Alumni.

Gerry graduated from UNB in 1969 with a Bachelor of Arts degree and followed it with a law degree and CA designation. From his second year at UNB he jumped in as treasurer of the new campus student representative council and set an influential standard for the council and for his leadership throughout his career. Gerry was always looking for ways to create a university atmosphere by partnering with community groups to host concerts such as Simon and Garfunkel.

Gerry has served on boards of the Saint John Board of Trade, the United Way and the UNBSJ Capital Campaign cabinet.
