Cox & Palmer Welcomes New Partner and Tax Lawyer, Carolle Fernando

Cox & Palmer has welcomed a new partner to the Halifax office. Tax lawyer, Carolle Fernando has joined our corporate and commercial practice group.

Prior to joining Cox & Palmer, Carolle was a partner with a national accounting firm with a primary focus on tax law. Carolle works with a broad range of business clients advising on income tax planning, corporate reorganizations, acquisitions and sale planning. Carolle also has expertise in advising multinational clients on cross-border tax and corporate law matters.
Carolle is a graduate from Dalhousie Schulich School of Law and has been called to the bar in Nova Scotia and Ontario.

Earlier this spring, Cox & Palmer welcomed tax lawyer, Connor MacLean, to our Halifax office.

Connor was called to the Ontario Bar in 2019 and began his career with an Atlantic Canadian accounting firm where he assisted clients in navigating their GST/HST obligations and has experience assisting taxpayers with their disputes with the CRA at both the audit and objection stage. He is also knowledgeable of client requirements related to the Greenhouse Gas Pollution Pricing Act. Connor is a part-time faculty member of Dalhousie University, Schulich School of Law where he instructs a taxation course.

Our new team members, join senior tax practitioner, Robert Arkin, partner in our Halifax office who has practiced with the firm since 1998. Rob’s practice involves complex domestic and international tax advisory services and the implementation of tax-related transactions and business structures.

Our growing Halifax tax team, as part of our larger corporate and commercial group, are eager to serve the legal needs of our clients as they grow in Atlantic Canada and beyond.
