Cox & Palmer Creative Writing Award Presented at SPARKS Literary Festival
The recipient of the Cox & Palmer Creative Writing Award was announced yesterday at the 3rd annual SPARKS Literary Festival in St. John’s. Randy Drover, a recent graduate of Memorial University and an award winning poet, was presented a $2,500 cheque for his outstanding achievement the field of creative writing.
The award was created as part of Cox & Palmer’s ‘BRAVO! Supporting the Arts’ initiative and was designed to celebrate achievement in the field of creative writing by a current or recent student of Memorial’s creative writing courses.
Drover’s work has been celebrated before; he was the 2009 national winner of the CBC Poetry Face-Off and has won both a Gregory J. Power Poetry Prize and the Jeroboam Prize for Poetry. Drover holds a BA in English and History and diplomas in both Professional and Creative writing. He is currently working on his first manuscript and is the managing editor of Paragon Press. The $2,500 award will support Drover’s future writing endeavours, which will continue to enrich our arts community.
