Summary Status Table – as of November 9

The Fall Sitting of the 1st Session of the 61st General Assembly of the Nova Scotia legislature began on Friday, September 17 and adjourned on Thursday, November 5. In total, 33 government bills, 30 private member’s bills, and two local bills were introduced in the Fall Sitting. Following is the status of all legislation introduced during the Fall Sitting as of November 9.

  • Bill No. 29 Financial Measures (2009) Act – Received Royal Assent November 5, 2009. Sections 11, 13, 14, and 16 to 22 have effect on and after January 1, 2009.  Sections 27, 28, and 29  have effect on and after April 1, 2009.  Section 10 has effect on and after June 1, 2009.  Section 31 has effect on and after June 23, 2009.  Section 30 has effect on and after July 5, 2009.  Section 9 has effect on and after September 15, 2009.  Sections 24, 25, 26, 32, 33 and 34 have effect on and after November 1, 2009.  Sections 2 and 3 have effect on and after December 1, 2009.  Sections 4, 5, 6, 7, 8 and 23 have effect on and after January 1, 2010.  Section 35 has effect on and after June 30, 2010.  The remainder of this Act will come into force on such day as the Governor in Council orders and declares by proclamation.
