Cox & Palmer is proud to share that Alexander (Sandy) MacDonald, QC, has been appointed a judge of the Trial Division of the Supreme Court of Newfoundland and Labrador in St. John’s.

In addition to maintaining a strong and successful practice in the offshore oil and gas industry, Sandy has been an exceptional leader, mentor, and friend to the firm. As managing partner of the St. John’s office for the past 10 years, Sandy used his steady and strategic hand to guide the firm, not only in its day-to-day operations, but through a successful merger and through varying economic climates.

Sandy encourages growth, diversity, and fairness in every instance.  His integrity and his commitment to justice have been beneficial to our clients and our firm. We are privileged to have him serve the Province of Newfoundland and Labrador as Justice MacDonald, and we are proud beyond measure to congratulate him on this well-deserved achievement.

Cox & Palmer’s St. John’s office will continue to be led by the firm’s management committee, which includes Denis FlemingLeanne O’Leary, and Gloria Young. An announcement regarding the appointment of a new managing partner will be made at a later date.
