Leanne O’Leary Appointed Managing Partner of St. John’s Office
Cox & Palmer today announced that Leanne O’Leary has been appointed Managing Partner of the St. John’s office. The appointment is a testament to her professional accomplishments, business acumen, and remarkable leadership skills.
Leanne is a skilled commercial and insurance litigator who represents an extensive range of the firm’s local and national clients. She has been a member of the firm’s management committee since 2015 and has been recognized as a leading practitioner in the area of personal injury law. An active member of the Law Society of Newfoundland and Labrador, Leanne is an elected Bencher and serves as Chair of the Law Society’s Education Committee. She is also an active community member and a recipient of the Queen’s Golden Jubilee Medal.
Leanne was appointed by the firm’s partnership following the departure of Alexander (Sandy) MacDonald, QC, who was appointed to the Supreme Court of Newfoundland and Labrador on November 9, 2017. Leanne is the first woman to lead the St. John’s office of Cox & Palmer.
“I am honoured to lead a talented team of lawyers and legal professionals who are not only dedicated to their work and their community, but who recognize the importance and value of a diverse leadership team. In a profession that is often steeped in history and tradition, I am proud to be an example of the great progress being made,” says Leanne.
Cox & Palmer is a member of the Law Firm Diversity and Inclusion Network (LFDIN), a group of Canadian law firms who have agreed to work together to promote diversity and encourage a culture of inclusion within their firms and the broader legal profession.
