Cox & Palmer Celebrates Right to Know Week Essay Competition Winners
Cox & Palmer joined the Office of the Information and Privacy Commissioner (OIPC) today to celebrate winners of OIPC’s 2nd Right to Know Week Essay Competition.
The essay competition was part of Right to Know Week 2011 and challenged students to write on the following topic:
“In the era of Wikileaks, where should the line be drawn for access to government records?”
The winning essay in this year’s competition was written by Amit Negandhi, who was presented with a $500.00 cheque. Second place (prize valued at $200.00) was awarded to Gina Colbourne, and third place (prize valued at $100.00) was awarded to Dave Jerome. All three were chosen anonymously by a panel of judges representing the OIPC, Cox & Palmer, College of the North Atlantic, and Memorial University of Newfoundland.
Right to Know Week strives to raise awareness about people’s right to access government information, while promoting freedom of information as essential to both democracy and good governance. Cox & Palmer is pleased to help the OIPC achieve this goal and congratulates the students on their award-winning essays.
