Immigration Lawyer Suzanne Rix Named Rising Star of Legal Community
Cox & Palmer congratulates Suzanne Rix who was named a Lexpert® Rising Star – Leading Lawyer Under 40 at an industry awards dinner in Toronto on November 25, 2010. Recipients of the Rising Stars Award must be under 40 years of age, and be nominated by their peers for their outstanding professional achievements and community leadership.
Suzanne is a graduate of Dalhousie Law School. Based in Halifax, she is one of the few lawyers in Atlantic Canada practicing exclusively in the area of immigration law, acting for both business clients and individuals. Suzanne began the firm’s immigration practice when she joined us in 2001, and developed the area over time from a few files to a thriving full-time practice.
Fluent in French, German and Spanish, Suzanne’s practice includes preparing immigration applications for clients under the Nova Scotia Nominee Program and other provincial nominee programs, the Federal Skilled Worker Program, the Federal Business Program, the Federal Family Class, and the Canadian Experience Class. She also advises both employers seeking to hire foreign workers and individuals wishing to work in Canada, including under NAFTA and GATS.
Suzanne is vice-chair of the Immigration Law Section of the Canadian Bar Association (Nova Scotia) and a past board member of the German-Canadian Association of Nova Scotia. She is currently the Director of the Immigration & Diversity Team for FUSION Halifax.
