Cox & Palmer Welcomes New Partners

Cox & Palmer is proud to welcome Joe Burke, Denis Fleming, Jeff Leard, Gavin MacDonald, and Harry Thurlow into partnership.

Joe Burke is a partner in the Halifax office and practices insurance and general litigation. He serves on the Board of Directors for the Halifax Community Learning Network and the Coverdale Centre, and chairs our Articling and Recruitment Committee. Joe was called to the Nova Scotia Bar in 2002.

Denis Fleming is a partner in the St. John’s office and practices commercial and insurance litigation. He began his career in Toronto before returning home to St. John’s. Denis was admitted to the Ontario Bar in 2003 and the Newfoundland and Labrador Bar in 2004.

Jeff Leard is a partner in the Summerside office and practices in the areas of corporate and commercial, real estate, estates & trusts, criminal and commercial litigation. He was called to the Prince Edward Island Bar in 2001.

Gavin MacDonald is a partner in the Halifax office. His practice focuses on business law in the areas of organization and financing, business restructuring, insolvency, and banking. Gavin was called to the Nova Scotia Bar in 2002.

Harry Thurlow is a partner in the Halifax office. He is a member of the firm’s litigation team with a particular focus on commercial and insurance related matters. Harry is secretary and treasurer of the Nova Scotia Medical Legal Society. He was admitted to the Nova Scotia Bar in 2002.

Individually, they excel in their respective fields of practice. Together, Joe, Denis, Jeff, Gavin and Harry are part of an Atlantic Canadian team who are leaders in their profession and in their communities.
