Ryan is an associate lawyer in Cox & Palmer’s Halifax office. He maintains a diverse litigation practice with a focus on health law and medical defence, including acting as counsel to the Canadian Medical Protective Association and its member physicians. Ryan also maintains a robust commercial litigation and insurance defence practice.

Ryan first joined Cox & Palmer as a summer law student in 2019. He went on to article with the firm and was called to the Nova Scotia bar in 2021. Before coming to Cox & Palmer, Ryan was an officer in the Canadian Armed Forces.

Experience

Ryan has advised healthcare professionals defending against malpractice or negligence lawsuits and addressing proceedings related to governance and licensure. He has assisted and managed a variety of complex commercial litigation matters including contractual disputes, debt recovery claims, real property disputes, and matters involving property damage and personal injury. Ryan has worked with financial institutions, government bodies, national insurers, regulated professions, and a broad range of commercial enterprises. He has assisted clients at all levels of court in Nova Scotia. Ryan is a strong advocate who, in all areas of his practice, prides himself on his practical, client-focused approach to dispute resolution.
